Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov on the Middle East Tensions

Kremlin Spokesperson’s Statement on Tensions in the Middle East

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the growing tension between Israel and Lebanon was extremely dangerous and that Moscow was deeply concerned about it.

Speaking to reporters, Peskov analysed the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the general situation in the Middle East. In this context, he said that it is very difficult to talk about the possibility of any solution in the current crisis. He also emphasised that this solution is under the control of only one country.

The path to peace is monopolised by one of the countries and so far there can be no talk of any success. At the moment, we cannot identify any prospects. This probably makes the situation potentially even more dangerous,” he said.

Describing the escalation of tensions between Israel and Lebanon as “potentially extremely dangerous“, Peskov warned that the expansion of this conflict would lead to a complete destabilisation of the region. “Of course, this is an extremely worrying situation for us,” Peskov said.

Consequences of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine

Peskov also responded to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky‘s remarks in an interview with a television channel that the end of hostilities is closer than many people think. “Every war ends in peace one way or another. For us, there is absolutely no alternative to achieving our goals. When these goals are achieved one way or another, special military operations will end,” Peskov said.
