Comments by Retired CIA Analyst Larry Johnson on Trump’s Appointments
Retired CIA analyst Larry Johnson said that Donald Trump’s choice of Pete Hegseth as defence secretary isan “absurd joke“. In addition to this appointment, Johnson also criticised the appointments made to other important positions. Emphasising that Florida Congressman Michael Waltz, who was appointed as national security adviser, is“a disaster“, Johnson underlined that Waltz“represents everything Donald Trump says he is against“.
Johnson made the following statements in his statements: “Trump talked about ending unnecessary wars during the campaign, but now he is working with a group of young people who are stuck in the old ways of thinking.” He also noted that New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who was appointed US Ambassador to the United Nations,“has a very hard-line pro-Zionist viewpoint“. Johnson suggested that with such a foreign policy team, Trump would double his mistakes on issues such as Ukraine, the Middle East and China.
“They believe that they can easily separate Russia and China”
“They do not understand that the world has changed. They still naively believe that they can easily separate Russia from China and that there is no natural alliance between Russia and China. This misunderstanding stems from the idea that Russia can defeat China by joining the West.”
Speaking to Sputnik, Johnson concluded his remarks with the following words: “They believe they can ‘boss’ people around in the Middle East and control what they do. But Saudi Arabia and Iran, which had problems with each other two years ago, have now re-established diplomatic relations, ignoring the fact that their defence ministers have visited each other’s capitals and are planning joint military exercises.”
- He stressed that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has clearly stated that relations with Israel should not be normalised until a Palestinian state is established.
