New Documents from the US Department of Justice on the Epstein Case

New Developments from the US Department of Justice Regarding the Epstein Case

In a letter addressed to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel,US Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed that documents pertaining to the Jeffrey Epstein case were being withheld. In this context, she demanded that all documents be delivered by 28 February. Subsequently, the US Department of Justice publicised the first part of the documents related to the case.

The documents published on the official website of the US Department of Justice include a list of 254 names, but most of these names have been blacked out as confidential. This situation caused a great reaction in the society. Jeffrey Epstein was detained for years on charges of sexual abuse of more than 250 underage girls, paedophilia and creating a prostitution network, and died in prison. The published documents include flight records and some critical details linked to Epstein.

TheUS Department of Justice stated that most of the published documents were previously leaked, but not officially released by the government. The documents include a photocopy of documents prepared by Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of aiding Epstein’s crimes, Epstein’s previously publicised so-called ‘blacklist’ and the names of celebrities associated with the case, such as Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger and Ivanka Trump.

One of the previously unseen documents, which the Ministry calls an ‘evidence list’, includes a three-page catalogue from searches of Epstein’s properties in New York and the US Virgin Islands.

Blackouts in the list of names provoked outrage

The fact that some names on this list of 254 names were kept secret caused widespread public disappointment. In a statement on social media, Anna Paulina Luna, a member of the House of Representatives, called this situation “a complete disappointment” and demanded more transparency, saying “Give us the information we want”.
